Welcome Open Door Networks ISP customers to Ashland Home Net
October 1, 2009
Greetings,
It is with excitement that I welcome you to the Ashland Home Net family of customers. As with any news of change, I'm sure you have many questions and concerns. Let me take try to address what I think are at the top of your mind.
1. I chose Open Door Networks because they are a Macintosh based ISP, should I be concerned? No. The same Mac guru from Open Door Networks, Michael Betzina, will be coming to Ashland Home Net as a Macintosh support expert. Additionally Alan will continue to be heavily involved with both the AFN and Macintosh communities. Mac-specific services like Open Door's "General Mac support and training" and security software will also continue.
In addition I have been developing software for the Macintosh since 1984 and have been an avid Mac fan for a very long time.
2. How much will it cost me? We are excited that we will actually be able to save you money. In order to put you in line with our normal AFN rates, most of you will be saving at least $2 a month for Internet service. Click here to see our full rate schedule.
3. How do I pay? If you were paying Open Door by credit or debit card, these payments will automatically go to Ashland Home Net. If you would like to pay by cash or check, our offices are located next to Safeway at 607 Siskiyou Blvd, Ashland, Oregon 97520. You can mail it in or feel free to drop it off and say hi. We would love to meet you.
4. When is my last payment to Open Door Networks? Your last payment will be made to Open Door Networks on November 2nd, 2009 for the month of October service.
5. How will I be billed? Similar to with Open Door, we will be emailing you a monthly statement, but it will look different.
6. When will the transition take place? During the month of October we will be working hard to transition all your information and services over. Effective November 1, 2009 you will become an Ashland Home Net customer.
7. What changes will I need to make once the transition happens? No changes to your email address or Internet settings should be required. You will need to change the address you send your payments to and change the phone number you call for support.
8. What is the phone number for technical support? 541-488-9207 or you can email support@ashlandhome.net
9. What about Alan Oppenheimer? Alan worked hard to find a company that would provide you the same levels of Mac-focused service you are accustomed to. We are honored to be that company and will work hard to earn your business. Alan will continue to run Open Door Networks, focusing on iPhone and Macintosh software development. He intends to stay fully involved with both the AFN and Mac communities and invites you to call him any time at 541-488-4127 or email alan@opendoor.com.
10. What can you tell me about Ashland Home Net? Ashland Home Net is the largest ISP on the AFN network. It is owned by my wife, Dena Matthews, and myself. We purchased it from Gary Nelson in January of 2008. We employ 7 full time people to serve you. Robin, Linda and Patti will handle your customer service needs. Robert and Michael will handle your customer support needs. Gary is our TV headend technician and will handle your TV support needs. Ashland Home Net also provides Ashland Cable TV service and Ashland Internet Telephone service. You can learn more about us at our website http://www.AshlandHome.Net/. We also publish a monthly newsletter. You can see previous copies of it here.
11. What can you tell me about Jim Teece? I moved to Ashland in 1992 with my wife and business partner, Dena, to raise a family and grow our business, Project A, a software development company. I currently serve on the Ashland Chamber of Commerce board (2nd term - Past President), the SOU foundation and the Asante foundation boards. I previously served on the Ashland Independent Film Festival Board (Past President), the Software Association of Oregon (Past President) and the SOTTC (Past President) as well as several other community boards and committees. We have two amazing children in the Ashland public school system. We bought Ashland Home Net and Ashland TV in January 2008 and have grown it to become the number one ISP in Ashland.
12. What if I have other questions or concerns? You can reach me with concerns or questions on my cell phone at 541-227-8188 or via email at Jim@ProjectA.com. I will do my best to respond to you in a timely manner.
